The big game of the Season, the F.A. Challenge Vase Final where Littlehampton Town played Newport Pagnell Town was played on Sunday at Wembley Stadium, in the early afternoon and it was shown live on BT television.
Newport Pagnell Town V Littlehampton Town (22nd May)
On a glorious, sunny, hot afternoon, thousands of supporters, 7,000 from Littlehampton, were packed into the magnificent Wembley Stadium, London to see the final of the F.A. Challenge Vase. Newport Pagnell Town took the lead midway through the first half with a goal from Kieran Barnes with a stunning shot from the edge of the box and so the "Swans"had the lead at half time. A considerable number of extra minutes were added to the first half, after George Gaskin sustained an injury which required him to be stretchered off the field of play, to be replaced by Aaron Capon. Newport Pagnell Town got off to a great start to the second half with a goal from Ben Shepherd to double the lead. The "Marigolds" then conceded a penalty which was converted by Ben Shepherd to increase the lead even further. Littlehampton Town became frustrated as the game progressed by picking up three yellow cards. So Newport Pagnell Town secured a 3-0 victory to win the F.A. Challenge Vase, whilst Littlehampton Town must re-group in preparation for their third cup final of the season on this coming Wednesday.

Littlehampton Town V Saltdean United (25th May)
The last game of the current season is the Sussex County F.A. Principal RUR Charity Cup Final where Littlehampton Town will play Saltdean United on Wednesday 25th May 2022 at Sx.C.F.A. Headquarters, Culver Road, Lancing, Kick Off 7.30pm.
Saltdean United also had a good season finishing in a clear second place in the Premier Division. The disappointment of not gaining promotion due to ground grading failures did in no way dampen their enthusiasm to win the RUR Cup Final and had a point to prove to beat the "Golds" to the silverware. Both teams had scored over 100 goals each this season so it looked good for a high scoring cup final.
Littlehampton Town V Saltdean United (25th May)
Both teams were greeted by a dry, windy evening on the south coast which both teams should be used to. It took until midway through the first half for the first goal which went to Littelehampton Ton scored by Lee Graham. A few minutes later, a penalty was awarded to the "Marigolds" and up stepped Joe Benn to double the lead with his sixtieth goal of the season. At half time Littlehampton Town went in with a good lead still hoping to complete the treble of the Premier Division and two Cup Finals. There were no more goals in the second half so Littlehampton Town completed the League and two Cup treble with a 2-0 win over Saltdean United. This victory in the RUR Cup was the fifth time that the "Marigolds" had won the RUR Cup in their history.
Littlehampton Town have had a magnificent 2021-22 football season by winning the Premier Division of the Southern Combination Football League by four points and winning the Southern Combination Football League Peter Bentley Challenge Cup. Their trip to Wembley for the FA Challenge Vase Final ended in defeat but they still looked forward to this, their third Cup Final.
So it is all over for Season 2021-22 as we say goodbye and good luck to Littlehampton Town and Pagham as they move to other Leagues and welcome Crowborough Athletic who will be joining this League.
