Week 33 Weekend Fixtures
Week 33 concluded with the big Saturday of the Season for Premier Division Leaders of the Southern Combination Football League, Littlehampton Town as they had a home game against Vase favourites North Shields in the quarter-final round of the F.A. Vase at "The Sportsfield". North Shields are currently in third position in Division One of the Northern Football League challenging for the top position and faced a round trip of about 700miles for the game.
Nine more games were arranged in the Premier Division of the Southern Combination Football League with Lingfield being the team with no game. A top of the table game saw 4th placed Bexhill Utd welcome 5th placed Pagham to "The Polegrove". Newhaven in 3rd place played Little Common at "The Trafalgar Ground". At the bottom of the Premier Division, East Preston had a chance to collect some points from their game against Hassocks at "The Beacon"
Loxwood V Peacehaven & Tels (2nd April)
After more rain on the Friday hopes were high for better weather on the Saturday. That is what happened as a bright sunny windy morning helped dry-out the pitches to get all the games played except for the pitch at "The Pavilion" where Loxwood should have been at home to Peacehaven and Telscombe..

Littlehampton Town V North Shields (12th March)
Littlehampton Town had more possession than North Shields in the first half but could not convert any chances into goals despite the cheering of a crowd of over 2000. Early in the second half, a red card for Anthony Myers for a bad tackle on Tom Biggs gave the "Golds" hope. The winning goal came late in the second half when from a free kick, the ball was deflected into the goal by a North Shields player. Littlehampton Town can now celebrate a great 1-0 victory as they are now one game away from playing in the FA Vase Final at Wembley. The "Golds" opponents in the semi final will one from Newport Pagnell Town, Loughborough Students and Hamworthy United.

Bexhill United V Pagham (12th March)
At the halftime interval the score was goalless in the Premier Division clash between Bexhill Utd and Pagham. It took mid way through the second half before the deadlock was broken when a goal by Evan Archibald gave Bexhill Utd a 1-0 victory which kept them in 4th place in the Premier Division

Crawley Down Gatwick V Alfold (12th March)
Luke Donaldson scored late in the first half with a well taken volley to give Crawley Down Gatwick the lead. This lead was quickly cancelled out when Bradley Campbell-Francis scored from a pass by Kelvin Lucas just before the interval. With no more goals in the second half, mainly due to the exceptional goalkeeping by the visitors Joshua Page both teams went away with a1-1 draw. This draw moved Crawley Down Gatwick up one place to 9th and Alfold moved up two places to 12th in the Premier Division.

Eastbourne Utd AFC V AFC Varndeanians (12th March)
Eastbourne Utd AFC took an early lead against AFC Varndeanians when Max Thompson converted a penalty after he had been brought down. The lead was increased minutes later when Charlie Ball headed in from a shot from Tigana Quebe which had rebounded out of the post. Just before the halftime whistle Max Thompson scored his second goal when he converted another penalty to give the home side a 3-0 victory. The visitors played much better in the second half but the damage was done in the first half.

Hassocks V East Preston (12th March)
Hassocks beat East Preston 5-2 to move one place up the Premier Division. David Haider put East Preston ahead in the first half but Hassocks fought back with two goals from Jack Troak before half time. In the second half East Preston added another goal but the victory went to Hassocks with further goals from Alfie Loversidge, Lewis Westlake and finally Joe Bull.

Horsham YMCA V AFC Uckfield Town (12th March)
Horsham YMCA started the game by giving away a penalty in the first minute when Jerome Johnston hacked down Jacob Feasey, fortunately goalkeeper Aaron Jeal was ready and made an incredible save. In added time in the first half, Jacob Feasy headed the visitors into the lead with a brave header which went in of the post. In the second half Tom Tolfrey with a pin point free kick leveled the score for YMCA then AFC Uckfield Town responded instantly taking the lead again with Jamie Blackford drilling home a beautiful shot from the edge of the box after a pass from Jack Walder.

Newhaven V Little Common (12th March)
A scrappy first half ended goalless as both teams struggled to find their rhythm. The game came alight in the second half when Lee Robinson put Newhaven ahead minutes after the restart. With Newhaven well in control Aaron Winser scored as his shot flew over the goalkeeper to double the lead. This 2-0 victory over Little Common keeps Newhaven well in touch with the two leaders of the Premier Division.

Saltdean United V Broadbridge Heath (12th March)
With a comfortable 5-0 victory Saltdean Utd moved to the top of the Premier Division by one point above Littlehampton Town who have two games in hand. A single goal from Marcus Allen who headed in a cross from George Taggart in the first half gave the home side the lead at half time. With Saltdean Utd dominating Broadbridge Heath in the second half more goals were scored. In the second half, Reece Hallard started the scoring when the ball bounced off his shoulder into the goal. Straight from the restart, Ryan Warwick drives hard into the box and the ball is deflected into the goal by one of the "Bears" players. Joshua Shelley scored his first goal when he buried a header and his second and the final goal came when he converted a penalty given for handball.

Steyning Town V Eastbourne Town (12th March)
Eastbourne Town scored the first goal of the afternoon when Sam Cole scored in the first few minutes. Minutes later a debatable penalty converted by Aaron Hopkinson doubled the lead. Steyning Town rallied well playing into a stiff breeze after a shocking start and only conceded one goal in the second half. Early in the second half Kian Moynes scored to give Eastbourne Town a comfortable 3-0 victory. This victory moves "Town" up one place level on points with local rivals Eastbourne United AFC and one point above Pagham who lost today.

Week 34
On the Tuesday of Week 34, as Clubs enter the last quarter of the season, there is only one game arranged to be played in the Premier Division of the Southern Combination Football League. Crawley Down Gatwick will be playing Littlehampton Town at "The Haven Centre", who will be really buoyant after their FA Vase win.
Sussex RUR Charity Cup
There are three matches involving four teams in the quarter-final round of the Sx.C.F.A. R.U.R. Charity Cup Competition. Division One Seaford Town welcome Hassocks to "The Crouch", Eastbourne Town travel to play fellow seasiders Newhaven at "The Trafalgar Ground" and Saltdean United have a home game against Selsey at "Hill Park".
The Peter Bentley Challenge Cup
One 3rd round game in the Southern Combination Football League. The Peter Bentley Challenge Cup has Godalming Town travelling down to play Pagham at "Nyetimber Lane", the winners will travel to the "Middle Road Stadium" to play Division One Shoreham.
Week 33
As the season moves to an end, there was only one game played on Tuesday in Week 33 of the Premier Division of the Southern Combination Football League. Eastbourne Utd AFC had a drive of about an hour straight up the A22 to the "The Pavilion" to play Lingfield. At the start of the season in September, Eastbourne Utd AFC inflicted a very heavy 7- 0 defeat upon Lingfield when they made their visit to "The Oval". Currently Lingfield are on a four game losing streak after two wins and Eastbourne United AFC came into this game having dropped five points after a run of four good wins.
Lingfield V Eastbourne Utd AFC
Eastbourne Utd AFC started the game quickly with several chances but it took until nearly halftime for them to take the lead when a Jack Murphy free kick was headed into the home team goal by Harvey Mapstone. Then seconds before the halftime whistle, Tigana Quebe latched on to a cross from Charlie Ball to double the lead at halftime. In the second half, a great cross from Jack Murphy was deflected into the goal by a Lingfield player to increase the lead. Jack Murphy was later brought down in the box and the penalty was put away by Max Thompson to make the score 4-0. In the final few minutes of the game, Max Thompson scored his second goal of the evening by out-foxing a Lingfield defender and blasting the ball into the goal. Even later in the game, Tigana Quebe also scored his second goal when he tapped home a pass from Max Thompson. After a frenetic final few minutes, Eastbourne United AFC completed a 6 - 0 victory over Lingfield and moved up two places in the Premier Division to just above local rivals Eastbourne Town having played one more game.
