After only a few minutes of the game at home to Alfold on the 3G pitch, Steyning Town took the lead when Jack Langford converted a penalty after Dayvarn Downer was fouled. The "Barrowmen" were then punished for a slow start as Alfold made a good move to equalise with a goal by Charlie Martin. Steyning Town retook the lead through Jack Langford with a jinking run to put the home side ahead at halftime. Early in the second half, Alfold again equalised with a penalty converted by Charlie Martin at the second attempt. The first attempt was ruled out due to some home players encroachment into the penalty area. The winning goal was scored very late in added time by debutant Kit Goddard with a close range header. Steyning Town had a great 3-2 home win over Alfold and moved into fourth place in the division.
