Having just had their eleven game winning streak broken, the division leaders Crawley Down Gatwick (1st) took on a confident and in-form Crowborough Athletic (7th) at the "Haven Centre". In the away game at the start of the season, the "Anvils" recorded a very slender victory over the "Crows". Two good footballing teams so there was a real feast of talent. Crowborough Athletic took the lead midway through the first half when Lucas Murrain slammed home a rebound from six yards which they maintained until the break. Straight from the second half restart, Lucas Murrain battled through from the right and scored his second goal with a lob over the advancing goalkeeper. A few minutes later Crawley Down Gatwick pulled a goal back through Michael Belli but that was not enough to prevent Crowborough Athletic from recording a hard fought 2-1 away victory with "Captain, Leader, Legend" Tom Boddy named as their Man of the Match. Wth two consecutive defeats for the "Anvils" the race at the top of the division now was hotting up.
