WEEK 29 MIDWEEK FIXTURES REVIEW
There were altogether a total of seven fixtures in the Premier Division of the Southern Combination Football League played but clubs should be aware of the colder weather forecast from the "Pest from the West" with possible frosts again.
Alfold V Broadbridge Heath (7th February)
Alfold (19th) had a very hard game at the "Elliott Scott Group Stadium" where Broadbridge Heath (4th} were their opponents. Early in the season the "Fold" had only narrowly been beaten by the "Bears" by the odd goal in three. In this game Alfold went behind in the first half when Charlie Parmiter scored for the "Bears" but equalised later on with a goal by Tyrese Sutherland when his great strike from outside the box hit the top left hand corner of the goal. With no more goals in the second half, Alfold gained a well deserved 1-1 home draw against Broadbridge Heath after putting in such a good performance. Alfold named Tyrese Sutherland as their Man of the Match

Crawley Down Gatwick V Crowborough Athletic (7th February)
Having just had their eleven game winning streak broken, the division leaders Crawley Down Gatwick (1st) took on a confident and in-form Crowborough Athletic (7th) at the "Haven Centre". In the away game at the start of the season, the "Anvils" recorded a very slender victory over the "Crows". Two good footballing teams so there was a real feast of talent. Crowborough Athletic took the lead midway through the first half when Lucas Murrain slammed home a rebound from six yards which they maintained until the break. Straight from the second half restart, Lucas Murrain battled through from the right and scored his second goal with a lob over the advancing goalkeeper. A few minutes later Crawley Down Gatwick pulled a goal back through Michael Belli but that was not enough to prevent Crowborough Athletic from recording a hard fought 2-1 away victory with "Captain, Leader, Legend" Tom Boddy named as their Man of the Match. Wth two consecutive defeats for the "Anvils" the race at the top of the division now was hotting up.

Little Common V Eastbourne Town (7th February)
Two teams a long way apart in the division played at the Recreation Ground, Little Common (14th) were at home to Eastbourne Town (6th) and were hoping to go one better than the draw earlier in the season in the away game. Eastbourne Town took the lead only minutes before the break with a spectacular goal by Leon Greig. He repeated his speciality from a previous game and scored direct from a corner. There were no more goals in the second half despite tremendous pressure from both teams so Eastbourne Town took home a 1-0 away victory. Although they lost the game, Little Common named Lewes Parsons as their Man of the Match.

Roffey V Hassocks (7th February)
Every game was hard for Roffey still seeking their first win but they always put everything into the game. A hard game was expected when Roffey (20th) welcomed Hassocks (10th) to "Chennells Brook". In the home game in August, the "Robins" had inflicted a crushing defeat on the "Boars" which they hoped to repeat. Late in the first half the deadlock was broken when Ricardo Fernandes played a sublime ball through to Kelvin Lucas who rounded the goalkeeper to score to give the "Boars" the lead at half time in a feisty encounter. Just after the start of the second half Morgan Prill was given a red card for what the referee deemed a dangerous tackle but it may have been only a loss of balance as the ground was beginning to freeze. Roffey hung on to their lead until the last few minutes of the second half when Hassocks were awarded a penalty which was converted by Philip Johnson. Hassocks then scored deep into time added on to snatch the first victory away from Roffey. Leon Turner then ran with the ball for half the length of the pitch then layed it off to Philip Johnson who fired the ball into the bottom corner of the goal for his second goal for Hassocks and to inflict a 2-1 home defeat on a totally gutted Roffey.

Saltdean United V Peacehaven & Tels (7th February)
Peacehaven and Telscombe (8th) made the short journey up to "Hill Park to play Saltdean United (17th) in a local derby. The "Tigers" have not won a game for ten weeks so the "Haven" are confident that they can win as they did earlier in the season by the only goal of the game. After a goalless first half, Peacehaven and Telscombe took the lead in the first few minutes of the second half when a shot by Mikey Lloyd forced a great save from the goalkeeper which found its way to Callum Hart who made no mistake from eighteen yards. Midway through the second half Callum Hart was fouled but managed to get the ball to Curt Ford who smashed the ball into the goal after some unbelievable footwork to double the lead. As time was running out Callum Hart swung the ball into Robin Deen who made no mistake from close range. Peacehaven and Telscombe go away with a 3-0 away victory after a very professional performance and get ready for their FA Challenge Vase match at the weekend. Curt Ford was named as the Man of the Match for Peacehaven and Telscombe.

Bexhill United V Midhurst & Easebourne (8th February)
Midhurst and Easebourne (12th) made the very long journey East across Sussex where they played Bexhill United (9th) at the "Polegrove" on Wednesday evening On paper, the "Pirates" seemed to be in better form as they drew with "Stags" at the start of the season. Bexhill Utd took the lead midway through the first half with a goal scored by Stephen Okoh. Minutes before the break Evan Archibald scored to give the "Pirates" a healthy lead at half time. Very early in the second half Midhurst and Easebourne pulled a goal back. Later in the second half Stephen Okoh scored his second goal to give Bexhill United a 3-1 home victory.
