Week 11
The mid-week games in Week 11 had one game in the Premier Division of the Southern Combination Football League when Peacehaven and Telscombe travelled along the coast to play Bexhill Utd. Eight more clubs were involved in the third round of the Peter Bentley Challenge Cup..
AFC Varndeanians V Loxwood (3rd October)
AFC Varndeanians at home to Loxwood, two clubs near the bottom of the Premier Division, were the first into action on Monday night. The "V's" took a very early lead when Alistar Rainford collected a very low cross from Fin Bigg on the right and slotted the ball into the goal. A good first half came to an end with both teams trying to get the ball down and to play but at the break the home side had a narrow lead. Straight from the restart, Loxwood came out with renewed vigour and Clyde Jaques scored the equaliser with a header from a corner ball and some time later Devon Fender put Loxwood ahead after he collected a pass, turned and fired the ball into the goal. Clyde Jaques scored his second goal to consolidate the lead after he collected the ball from a whipped corner and fired into the goal with an overhead strike. Minutes before full time, Jay Popham completed the scoring to give Loxwood a 4-1 away win and a place in the fourth round of the Cup.

Eastbourne Utd AFC V Wick (4th October)
Barely had the game started when Mason Creese put home side Eastbourne Utd AFC into the lead against division one promotion chasing visitors Wick. MaxThompson doubled the lead soon afterwards and then right on the halftime whistle Alfie Headland scored to require something special from Wick in the second half. With no more goals in the second half, Eastbourne Utd AFC got a 3-0 home win and an away game to either Saltdean Utd or Peacehaven and Telscombe in the quarter-final round of the Cup..

Epsom & Ewell V Broadbridge Heath (4th October)
Visitors Broadbridge Heath took an early lead against division one promotion chasing home side Epsom and Ewell who fought back to be level at halftime. Jack Frankland scored first for the "Bears" which was equalised a little later by Athan Smith-JosephIn the second half, Broadbridge Heath took control with goals from Kyle Sim, Lewis Croal and Ben Cooksley. A goal by Gideon Acheampong completed the scoring with a 4-2 away win for Broadbridge Heath and a home game against Newhaven or Bexhill Utd in the quarter-final round of the Cup..

Horsham YMCA V Dorking Wanderers B (4th October)
Horsham YMCA went behind early in their home game against Dorking Wanderers B after Conan Torpey snapped up a rebound to slot the ball home. Stan Berry equalised for YMCA after collecting the ball from his first effort and then fired the ball into the top corner of the goal with his second attempt. Minutes before halftime, Dorking Wanderers B took the lead again when Ben Aubrey collected a poor skyed clearance for a clean and tidy finish. In the second half, Dorking Wanderers B went down to ten men when Conan Torpey was sent off for two yellow cards. Horsham YMCA also went down to ten men, having used all their substitutes, when Cameron Joste went off due to an injury. With both sides short of a player, Dorking anderers B still managed to score when Sekou Toure retrieved a launched ball, turned in the box and slotted the ball into the goal. Dorking Wanderers B achieved a 3-1 away win and an away game against Loxwood in the quarter-final round of the Cup..

Lingfield V Crowborough Athletic (4th October)
Right on half time, Crowborough were awarded a penalty which was converted by Joao Andrade to put them into the lead at the break. A defensive error allowed Harry London to increase the lead with a gift of a goal then Joao Andrade scored his second of the night with a close direct header. The last goal was scored by when he collected a superb cross into the danger zone for him to smash into the goal. This 4-0 away victory gets Crowborough Athletic into the quarter-final of the Cup where they will be at home to Steyning Town.

Steyning Town V Worthing United (4th October)
A long thumping shot by Joshua Bradley put Steyning Town into the lead at home to Worthing Uld right from the kick-off and a few minutes later Nathan Da Costa thumped home a corner ball which was not cleared. A midfield defensive error enabled Ryan Warr to pull a goal back for Worthing Utd just before halftime..In the second half as the game drew to an end,Dominic Johnson-Fisher scored with a long range rasping shot and then in added time, Dominic Johnson-Fisher scored his second of the game. With this 4-1 home victory Steyning Town will play Crowborough Athletic in the quarter-final of the Cup..

Bexhill United V Peacehaven & Tels (5th October)
On a very windy Wednesday evening, the one game in the Premier Division had Bexhill Utd at home to Peacehaven and Telscombe and it was not until mid-way through the first half that the first goal went to the visitors. Brandon Kulila was fouled in the penalty area and the resultant penalty was converted by Robin Deen. Peacehaven and Telscombe took their slender lead into the second half and held it until halfway through the half whenOlliver Hull levelled the score with a bullet of a header from a corner. The "Pirates" took the lead towards the end of the game when a ball floated in from the left wing was collected by James Hull to score. In added time everybody was in the Bexhill Utd penalty box which when the ball was cleared the visitors goal was left empty for Evan Archibald to score the winning goal. Bexhill Utd came from being a goal down to record a 3-1 home victory..

Week 11 Weekend Fixtures
On Saturday there was a full programme of fixtures in the Premier Division of the Southern Combination Football League. An intriguing match was played at the "Trafalgar Ground" where top of the table Newhaven were at home to third placed Broadbridge Heath. A mid table clash saw ninth placed Horsham YMCA welcome eleventh placed Crowborough Athletic to the Herbert Direct Stadium..
Newhaven V Broadbridge Heath (8th October)
It was dry, warm and sunny, just right for a cracking afternoon of County football and so it turned out to be with all change at the top of the Premier Division. Current leaders Newhaven played Broadbridge Heath at home and held the score goalless up to half time. In the second half, Newhaven went down to ten players when Alex Plummer was sent off. Later in the half,Louis Evans scored a goal to give Broadbridge Heath a 1-0 away victory and they moved into second place in the division with a game in hand. Newhaven moved down to third place in the division on goal difference being one of four clubs level on twenty-two points..

Crawley Down Gatwick V Little Common (8th October)
Crawley Down Gatwick went behind very early in their home game against Little Common when Sammy Bunn put the visitors ahead. The "Anvils" fought back to level the score with a goal from Rhys White and then took the lead right at the end of the first half when Rhys White. scored his second goal. Very early in the second half,Rhys White completed his hat trick and gave Crawley Down Gatwick a 3-1 home victory and top spot in the division..

Saltdean United V Steyning Town (8th October)
At the "Hill Park", Steyning Town completely overwhelmed the home side Saltdean United after a sloppy careless start. In the first half, Nathan Da Costa scored first by bundling the ball into the goal from a Jack Langford failed free kick, followed very soon afterwards by Joshua Bradley who smashed the ball into the goal after a crazy run by Dominic Fraser-Johnson to give the rampant "Barrowmen" a good lead at half time. Goal machine Nathan Da Costa scored his second goal straight from the start of the second half when he volleyed home a cross from Jack Barnes followed very soon afterwards byJack Langford who tapped the ball into the goal after fighting his way through the "Tigers" defence. Saltdean United went down to ten players when substitute William Blair was sent-off for two yellow cards. Steyning Town went further into the lead when Dominic Johnson-Fisher got onto the scoresheet by cutting in from the left, jinking his way through the defence and firing the ball low into the goal.and then Jack Langford completed the scoring by firing his shot low into the goal. This 0-6 away victory keeps Steyning Town in fourth place in the division level on points with three other clubs..

Alfold V Eastbourne Utd AFC (8th October)
Eastbourne Utd AFC had a long journey to play Alfold and came away with a narrow win. The game was goalless at halftime and only sprang into life mid-way through the second half when Simon Johnson scored the only goal of the game. This goal gave Eastbourne Utd AFC a 1-0 away win and due to goal difference a move of one place down the division..

Midhurst & Easebourne V Peacehaven & Tels (8th October)
Both teams failed to score a goal in the first half when Midhurst and Easebourne welcomed Peacehaven and Telscombe to the "Rotherfield". In the second half, debutantJordan Stalibrass scored first followed by James Liddard and then later Jordan Stalibrass scored his second goal and completed the scoring. A 1-0 home win to Midhurst and Easebourne moved them one place up the division and completed a group of six clubs playing for the top spot..

Bexhill United V Lingfield (8th October)
Bexhill Utd took the lead very early in the first half against visitors Lingfield when James Stone scored. In the second half, Lingfield equalised with a goal by Cameron Dobell but Sam Scott soon scored to put the "Pirates" back into the lead. Later Jack Shonk extended the lead when he converted a penalty. Lingfield pulled a goal back just before full time when Tyrone Magala-Bryan scored but Bexhill Utd ended the game with a 3-2 victory and moved four places up the division to eighth.

Hassocks V AFC Varndeanians (8th October)
Hassocks were at home to AFC Varndeanians at the "Beacon" and took the lead mid-way through the first half when tall striker Jamie Wilkes side footed the ball into the goal from just inside the penalty area from a Bradley Tighe cross. The "Robins" doubled the lead early in the second half when Phillip Johnson collected a pass from Leon Turner and scored from very close range. Hassocks were worthy winners taking all three points in a 2-0 home victory and keeping their seventh place in the division.

Horsham YMCA V Crowborough Athletic (8th October)
Crowborough Athletic came out on top in their mid table away clash at Horsham YMCA. A sloppy throw-in taken by "YMCA" was grabbed by Harvey Killick who ran and then passed the ball to Lucas Murrain who tucked the ball into the goal to give the "Crows" the lead. Later in the first half, Harry Forster wriggled free of the "YMCA" defence to pass the ball to Tiago Andrade who scored from in the penalty area as the "Crows" dominated play. In the second half, there were no more goals, only three yellow cards for "YMCA" as the game got heated with a few flying tackles. Crowborough Athletic held on to their lead in a scrappy second half to record a 2-0 away victory..

AFC Uckfield Town V Roffey (8th October)
After a minute's silence in respect of the death of an AFC Uckfield Town club colleague, the home side soon took the lead against visitors Roffey when a defensive error allowed Harvey Burgess to tap the ball round the goalkeeper into the goal. A little later Harvey Burgess increased the lead when he scored his second goal to give the "Oakmen" the lead at half time with two well worked goals. Very early in the second half, George Cook slotted the ball into the goal from close range. After a rebound from their crossbar, Roffey raced away with Leon Khan neatly scoring a consolation goal. A strong second half performance from Roffey was matched by a dominating performance from AFC Uckfield Town who finished with a 3-1 home win and moved two places up the division.

Eastbourne Town V Loxwood (8th October)
Loxwood travelled all the way to the "Saffrons" to play Eastbourne Town and suffered a defeat which keeps them near the bottom of the division. Leon Greig opened the scoring for the home side mid-way through the first half which was followed by Tyler Capon just before halftime. A penalty to Loxwood in the second half was converted by George Cousins but they then went down to ten players when Shervin George was sent off. James Waters restored the two goal lead for the home side and in added time Tyler Capon scored his second to complete the scoring. Eastbourne Town completed a 3-1 home victory and moved up one place in the mid field of the division..
